It's quite common to for people talk about the unusual food combinations that pregnant women eat, pickles and ice cream, peanut butter and bananas. I expected my wife to have these cravings as well. One thing that I recently learned is in the beginning of the pregnancy a lot of women don't like food, all the things they liked before tastes bad, or makes them nauseated.
My wife loves food, sometimes I think the reason she married me was because I like to cook and I'm pretty good at it. Preparing food for a pregnant woman can be very challenging, first she may want it when you start but by the time it's done she won't have anything to do with it. One little secret that I found is don't cook very much, do not make enough for leftovers unless you, the dog, or someone is going to eat it. Your pregnant wife most likely will love it the first time and can't stand after that. This is understandable because their bodies are changing daily. The hormones are racing around trying to get everything done so the baby will be comfortable. If you read the list of things that people, doctors and the so called experts say that a pregnant woman shouldn't eat you'll find there's almost nothing that she can eat. Here is an example: Don't eat fish, red meat, eggs, chicken and certain types of vegetables. If your wife is reading these lists she'll be starting to go a little nuts trying to figure out what she can and cannot eat. Words of advice for expectant fathers trying to help their wives. Make a list of foods that you think your wife would like or liked before she got pregnant and take that list to your doctor. When you read the list to the doctor ask for specific reasons why she can't eat that and write down the answer, also if the doctor says not to eat too much ask how much is not too much.
This is something that expectant fathers need to do, you need to take an active role in your wife's pregnancy. She's relying on you to be the man she can count on. Go to all the doctor appointments, don't be afraid to go in the room, hold your wife's hand and most importantly don't forget the list.
